Warts - Causes, Symptoms And Treatment

Warts are small epidermic growths caused by a virus. More common in kids than in adults, warts are skin infections caused by viruses of the human papillomavirus (HPV) family. They can affect any area of the body, but are usually found on the fingers, hands, and feet.

Warts are usually painless with the exception of the warts on the soles of the feet. These growths vart in size and shapes and are commonly four types.

Types of warts

These growths vart in size and shapes and are commonly four types.

  1. Common warts
  2. Genital Warts
  3. Flat warts
  4. Plantar warts

Common warts :- Usually found on fingers, hands, knees, and elbows, a common wart is a small, hard bump that's dome-shaped and usually grayish-brown.
It has a rough surface that may look like the head of a cauliflower, with black dots inside.

Plantar warts :- Found on the bottom of the foot, plantar warts can be very uncomfortable - like walking on a small stone.

Flat warts :- its also called juvenile warts. These are about the size of a pinhead, are smoother than other kinds of warts, and have flat tops. Flat warts may be pink, light brown, or yellow. Most kids who get flat warts have them on their faces, but they can also grow on arms, knees, or hands and can appear in clusters.

Genital Warts :- Genital warts, also called condylomata acuminata or venereal warts are the most easily recognized sign of genital human papilloma virus (PHV) infection. Warts are benign tumors of the epidermis. Some people will have a genital HPV infection without genital warts.

Treatment of Warts

For some people, warts disappear on their own; these people may develop life-long immunity. Or, you may get warts that multiply rapidly and even reappear after treatment. To keep a wart
from growing back after treatment, your immune system must respond to the virus and rid your body of the infection.
