Tips for Weight Loss

  • If you need to loose weight, go about it in a systematic way. Crash dieting doesn't work as you'll only loose much needed energy. Any weight loss programme should be slow and controlled. Breakfast like a king, lunch like a Queen, and dine like a pauper.
  • Change Positions Frequently : You can burn up to 350 extra calories a day just by incorporating more movement into your day. And I'm not talking about major movement. I'm talking about things like changing positions in your chair, doodling, playing with a pencil, moving around, standing, taking stretch breaks or fidgeting.
  • Add More Steps Into Your Day: By adding additional steps into your day, you can easily lose pounds. When you go shopping, park your car at the far end of the lot so you have farther to walk to the store. If you take a bus, get off one of two stops earlier than you need to so you can get in some extra steps. When you need to talk to someone at work, instead of calling or emailing, why not walk over to the person and speak to him or her directly. Use a pedometer, aim for 10,000 steps per day and watch the pounds melt away.
  • Individualize Portions : If you want to eat a snack, then put some into a bowl, cup, plate, etc. before you eat it. If you eat the snack from a big bag or box, it is very easy to overeat. By individualizing your portions, you get to have your snack and lose weight too.
  • Reduce Portion Sizes: Whenever I eat out, the first thing I do when my meal is brought to the table is to split it in half. I eat half of it at the restaurant and then I take the rest home with me. Most restaurant meals are enormous and eating the entire portion can really pack on the pounds. So by dividing your meal into two portions you get a double benefit – you can enjoy it twice, while you also control your calories.
  • East Lower Calorie Versions of Favorite Foods: If you decide that you want to eat a treat such as ice cream, then make a wise choice. Not all treats have the same number of calories. You can eat a king size, chocolate covered ice cream cone which has approximately 500 calories or you can have an ice cream sandwich which has approximately 250 calories. Both are forms of ice cream, but one has twice as many calories at the other. Have your treat, but be smart in the process.
  • Eat Certain Foods Sparingly: If you want to lose or control your weight, you need to eat certain foods sparingly because of their high caloric content. You can regularly eat foods such as fruits and vegetables in abundance as long as you don't load them up with fat and rich sauces. You can eat treats such as ice cream, cookies, or cakes, but you shouldn't make them a regular part of your diet.
  • Avoid tea, coffee and fizzy drinks, opt for fruit and vegetable juices, mineral waste and herbal teas.
