Men's Shaving Tips
To Perfect Shave
- It’s best to shave in the morning. Your skin has been resting for the night.
- Wash your face. Try not to shave without having your skin perfectly clean. This will help prevent infection or bumps.
- Apply hot water or shave after the shower. Warm humidity increases skin elasticity and softens your beard. Hot water actually diminishes hair toughness, which can increase blade longevity. Wet hair is easier to shave.
- Apply shaving cream or gel. Apply a uniform layer of shaving cream or gel on your face in a circular motion, going back and forth over the skin and against the grain. This softens your hair, smooth's the skin and lifts your hair, allowing a closer, less irritating shave.
- Massage your shaving cream or oil into the area to be shaved. Shaving oil or cream will give you the best results and be a lot less drying.
while shaving tips
- Use both hands. One to hold the shaver, the other to pull/stretch the skin. If you don’t succeed in stretching your skin with the other hand, try grimacing. Well-stretched skin will not be pinched by the blades.
- Control your moves. Be careful not to press too hard on the blade or you could damage your skin.
- Shave with short strokes. This will allow you to be more precise and will be less irritating to your skin.
- Use hot water while shaving. It helps to soften the beard, open pores and cleanse skin.
- Make sure your razor is sharp. Old, blunt blades spoil a shave. They drag the skin and do not give a clean shave.
- Rinse your razor in the hot water.
After Shaving Tips
- Rinse your face with cold water. Finish by rinsing off excess cream with cold water. Cold water is very important as it closes your skin’s pores and reduces razor burn.
- Then afterwards, use a skin toner to remove any residue, close the pores and refresh the skin.
- For cuts, use a moistened alum block to stop the bleeding.
- Apply an alcohol-free after-shave to re-moisturize your skin and avoid the feeling of razor burn.
