Mascara - How to Apply Mascara

Mascara thickens the eye lashes and increase attractiveness of the eyes and emphasize them. It gives the eye make up the finishing touch. Brush the lashes, apart from application. Light coats are better than thick ones.

HOW TO APPLY MASCARA

The final step of eye make up. There is no such thing as too much mascara. You may sweep several coats on the lashes for thicker lashes. After kajal, mascara follows. Before applying mascara, remove all excess mascara by rubbing it on the sides of the bottle. There is a definite technique of applying mascara. First apply it on the top side of the upper lashes, stroking the color down.

Forms of Mascara

They are three forms of Mascara.

1. Water based :- Water based mascaras can be applied quickly and removed easily. So they are gentle to the lashes and eyes. But they won't stay for a long time, as the mascara smudges easily when it comes into contact with water, tears and perspiration.
2. Water proof :- Water proof variety stay for a long time and is water proof and smudge proof. They are a good investment as they are resistant to contamination and can be used even years after they have been manufactured. But it takes a long time to dry and is difficult to remove the liner.
3. Mixed variety :- is a combination of water based and water proof mascaras. These dry quickly and is easy to remove.

MASCARA ON LOWER LASHES

Apply mascara on the lower lashes with the tip of the brush only, separating each lash as you go. The lower eye lashes are scanty and difficult to see, so you may put a piece of face tissue touching the lower eye line, so that the eye lashes are easily visible on the tissue paper. Use a moist cotton bud to pick up any drippings of the mascara.

COLOURED MASCARA

If you are bold enough, try putting on blue or brown mascara on your lashes after applying a coat of black mascara, for a stunning look.

Decide whether you would prefer to use waterproof or water-soluble mascara. Water-soluble is easier to remove without eye makeup remover, thus minimizing the amount of rubbing around the eyes, which can lead to saggy skin. Waterproof mascara is a better choice for athletes, especially swimmers.
