Basic Factor Of Bath
After a hard day at home or in the office-or maybe both-nothing sounds or feels better than a nice, hot bath. Baths treated with the correct combination of natural products can relax, soothe, rejuvenate, moisturize, and treat problems like dry skin and sunburns.
- Almond Body Bath: Place 1 cup epsom salts and 1/2 cup coarsely ground kosher or sea salt into a large resealable plastic bag. Add 5 drops almond oil, shaking bag to mix between each drop. Add 1/2 cup to running water as you prepare your bath. Rinse well after soaking.
- Moisturizing Skin Bath: Add geranium essential oil to your bath or use in a steam bath to balance the skin and regulate sebum secretion. At night, add two drops each of sandalwood and rose essential oils in 20 ml carrier oil to moisturize your skin as you sleep.
- Herbal Bath Powder: Combine 1 tb sp. dried chamomile flowers, 1 tsp. dried lavender flowers, 1/4 cup cornstarch, and 1 tb sp. orrisroot in a bowl. Let mixture sit in a sealed jar overnight to allow scents to permeate powder, then sift and store in a bath powder box or powder shaker.
- Soothing Bath Oil: Mix 1 egg, 2 tb sp. honey, 1/2 cup baby or mineral oil, 1/4 cup buttermilk, 2 tsp. liquid soap, 1/4 cup vodka, and fragrant oil of your choice in a blender for 30 seconds. Drop 1 to 2 tb sp. of this oil into your bath and allow yourself to relax! Keep refrigerated in a covered container for 3 to 4 days, then discard.
- Sunburn Relief Bath: Puree 1 cucumber in blender and pour into ceramic bowl. Add 4 cups oatmeal, 10 black tea bags, and 2 tb sp. rosemary leaves and mix well. Pour contents of bowl into bath under running water. Soak for 1 hour and rinse well. Recipe makes 1 bath.
